Frederick Christian Academy (VB)

The varsity guys next opponent were the Frederick Christian Academy Defenders, who are known for being a basketball powerhouse and always a very tough competitor for the Warriors. Nethertheless the boys came ready to play. They came out pumped and kept the game close, even taking the lead a few times during the 1st quarter. The Defenders realized they had some competition and immediately picked up their game starting the second quarter. They outscored the Warriors through that quarter, but our boys didn't give up and kept the score even through the 3rd quarter. Unfortunately the score couldn't be made up, leaving the final score 71-39.
Daniel Passarelli led the team with 15 points, 3 steals, and a rebound. Following him was Jonathan Pefley scoring 7 points, pulling down 4 rebounds, and nabbing 2 steals. Josiah Carstens was right behind him with 6 points, 4 rebounds, 7 assists, and a steal. Toby McGrath scored 4 points, and got 9 rebounds, 2 steals, and an assist and block.
It was a tough game but the guys looked forward to a long week to recuperate and a practice to start off the following week.

Frederick Christian Academy (VG)

The Warrior ladies kicked off their basketball season against the Frederick Christian Academy Defenders right before Thanksgiving. Many of the girls were nervous but very excited for their first game. For some it was the start of yet another season of varsity ball; for other, it was their first varsity basketball game ever.
Throughout the first quarter the ladies hung tight, sometimes just a basket away from being tied with the Defenders. At half, the ladies were still just a couple of baskets away from being tied, and just beginning to get their rhythm. However, during the 3rd quarter they slacked off, allowing the Defenders to creep ahead. During the fourth quarter, the Warriors went to a man defense, versus the zone and box-in-one they were playing before. The switch resulted in many steals and completely shut down the Defenders' offense. However the ended the game on bottom with the score 32- 21. The ladies gave it their best, pounding the ball inside and the guards working well with each other, looking for the open man.
Many of the players contributed to the score. They also out-rebounded the Defenders. Key steals, blocks, and assists were pitched in by the girls as well. The Warriors never gave up and showed Godly character on the court.
