Adams County Christian Academy (VG)

The Warriors had won against Adams County once before, but only by 2 points, and not having played in a game for almost 4 weeks, the girls were nervous, but ready to play.
They started out a little slow and by the end of the 1st quarter the girls were up 6-5. With the combination of new plays and a new box-in-one defense, the girls picked up the pace and by halftime were up 18-8. The fans cheered them on as they headed out to the locker room.
In the 3rd quarter the girls came out strong and did not disappoint. The box-in-one defense really worked, and they got many fast break lay-ups. They also passed the ball strong, made some good moves to the basket, and had many put-backs, and played unselfish ball. The offense fed off the defense the entire game.
At the end of the 3rd quarter the Warriors had extended their lead even more, the score being 32-13. In the 4th quarter they stopped the box-in-one and moved to a 2-3 defense. Though the defense had changed, the intensity hadn’t, and the girls played tough defense till the end. The final score being 40-25.
Scoring for the night was spread out, with almost every girl on the team putting something on the scoreboard. Including Katey Althoff, draining her first Warrior basket! Leading the Warriors in scoring for the night was Emma Matthews with 12 points. Following her was Gabrielle Freese (9), Ashley Kelly (8), and Amanda Stewart (5). Gabrielle led the team with 18 rebounds, following her was Abby Messinger (13), Emily Passarelli (9), and Emma (4). Ashley led the team with 3 assists, Emma right behind her with 2. Everyone contributed to the steals, leading them all was Ashley with 6. Behind her was Emma (4), Amanda (3), and Abby, Priya Stepp, and Emily all with 2. The team had a combination of 21 steals for the night. Gabrielle, Emily, and Ashley all led the team with 2 blocks each.
The girls had a great game and played with heart the entire time. Great job girls!

All the Warrior teams traveled up to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, for a game against the Adams County Christian Academy Rams. The middle school boys played second, and came out pumped and ready to play.
They came out strong, nailing two 3-pointers right away. At the end of the 1st quarter the Warriors were down 8-6. In the 2nd quarter, though, the Rams picked up their game and outscored the Warriors, leaving the score 20-9 at half.
The boys didn’t give up though, and kept the intensity. They made sharp passes and had many good looks to shoot inside the paint. At the end of the 3rd quarter the Warriors were trailing 27-16. The Rams’ tight defense kept the Warriors from pulling out a win, the final score being 37-21.
Each of the boys had a big part in the game. After having a 3 week Christmas break, the Warriors were more than ready to take on the MACA Lions. The last time the two teams met the Warriors had an off game and ended up on bottom. The guys were now pumped and ready to play.

They started out strong, having a 9-0 run in the first few minutes of game. But from the time the Lions first scored to the final buzzer, it was an intense game. At halftime the score was tied at 17.
Both teams came out energized and ready to take the lead. Many fouls were called both ways, and when the buzzer went off at the end of the 4th quarter, the score was tied at 39. Overtime!
The boys came out tough. Scoring went back and forth on the teams, both teams scoring right after the other. The Lions were winning by 1 point with a few seconds left, and with less then a second left, Toby McGrath hit a free throw and tied the game at 44. Overtime 2!

Having tied it with so little time, the Warriors were pumped and ready to finish the game. They played hard and well, keeping a slim lead over the Lions. But with 4 seconds left, the Lions came down and nailed a 3-pointer. The boys ran out of time and lost 51-50.
