Mtn View - MSB

The Warriors MS Boys took to the court Thursday night in Winchester, VA, against the Mountain View Christian Academy Conquerors. The Warriors got off to another stifling start with the press, shutting out the Conquerors 11-0 in the first quarter. However, the home team would battle back, outscoring the Warriors 8-4 in the second, giving a halftime score of 15-8. Several Warriors were fighting off the effects of illness earlier in the week, but the Warriors regained their edge in the second half, outscoring the Conquerors 7-4 in the third and 12-8 in the fourth.
The Warriors' tough defense and team speed were highlighted by beautiful steals and coast-to-coast layups by both Joel Kehr and Nathan Wright. Timothy Diethrich came off the bench to lead all rebounders with seven boards, including two offensive rebounds and an impressive put-back.
The Warriors' second chance buckets were too much for the Conquerors to overcome as the Warriors pulled down a season-high 23 offensive boards of their 34 total rebounds, by nine different Warriors. Eight Warriors scored for the night, led by John Koffman's 10-point, four-assist effort, and Benjamin Passarelli's personal-best 4 points. Caleb Abel, once again, contributed to the scoring, rebounding, and assists, and had a team-leading five steals.
It was another great TEAM effort! The Warriors are now 11-2 for the season.
