Round two of pool play for the girls featured a match-up with the Lighthouse Christian Eagles from North Carolina. The Warriors faced the Eagles last year in pool play, so they knew what they were up against as they took to the hardcourt last night. The Eagles play a fast paced, tight offensive game.
Our girls struggled in the post postion gaining possession of loose balls. The Warriors played hard, scrapping for every loose ball. The Eagles double teamed our shooters and their size made the Warriors work extra hard for every bucket.
Rebecca Reifsnider had all the Warriors assists for the night with 3. Liz Catoe nabbed 3 balls in game. Emma Matthews hit a 3 late in the fourth quarter. It was her first Varsity basket of the season. Emma, as well as the crowd, went wild!
Rebecca Reifsnider and Maggie Quick led the team in rebounds with 5 each. Rachel Joannides scooped up 4 along with Kathryn Romanchuk. Krista Duke had 3 rebounds for the night. 21 rebounds for the Warriors total, summed up the game. The final score was 33-56 in favor of the Lighthouse Christan Eagles.
To note: Even though the Warriros lost in this match-up, it may end up proving beneficial in the long run. The loss may help the Warriors to end up in a division better suited to their ability and playing level. The Warriors take on their third opponent the Stallions Thursday afternoon at 4:00pm. They will find out their division match-ups sometimes on Thursday evening.
After the game, the boys and the coaches competed in the three point shooting contest for the qualifying round. Although none of our guys advanced to the final round, they all did great and were well supported by all of the Warrior fans.
