The Warriors were seeded as the #2 seed in division 2a. This is the same division the Warriors took third place in last year. The semi-final round featured the Warriors taking on the Easley Guardians. The Warriors understood the importance of winning this game. A win meant a chance at the championship, a loss meant the chance for third place. The Warriors came in ready to play despite the late 10:00 pm start time. They took an early lead on the Guardians.
The game was well within the reach of either team for the first half. The Warriors took an emotional and physical blow in the second quarter with the injury of Rebecca Reifsnider. She went down with what appeared to be a very serious ankle injury. Coach Barry immediately came over and prayed for her and she was helped to the bench. The game then went to halftime and the girls were called together for second half instructions.
Some key baskets and tough defensive play pulled the Warriors forward in the third quarter. Near the end of the third quarter, Rebecca signaled to Coach that she wanted to be put back into the game. He tapped her up while Coach Quick inspired the girls with the confidence that was deep within them. They went onto the floor and controlled the remainder of the game.
Rebecca came back in and continued to dominate the rest of the game. Rachel Joannides led the Warriors with 9 rebounds, Rebecca had 5 and Sarah Reifsnider and Charity Poole each had 4. Liz Catoe had 3 assists and Charity Poole had 2.
Ana Blickenstaff and Liz Catoe both had 2 steals for the night. The Warriors won the game with a final score of 27 to 42. The Warriors advanced onto the championship round of division 2a. Way to Go Warriors!
