MountainView - MSG

The Middle School Girls started out small with only 5 players ready for tip off. Joanna Hughes, Michaela Joannides, Emma Matthews, Jackie Lamont and Mckenzie Quick took the court for tip off thinking they might be playing all four quarters. The bench was empty.
At the end of the first quarter, 3 more Warriors showed up to play and the score was 4 to 1, with the Conquerors in front. Second quarter action saw Kirsten Blickenstaff and Gabrielle Freese add to the score with 2 points each. At half time the score was tied at 5.
In the second half, the Conquerors pulled away outscoring the Warriors 9 to 2 in the third quarter. The Warrior girls reached down deep for the fourth quarter and scored 8 points. The Conquerors scored four however, and that was just enough to hand the Warriors their first loss of the season. The final score was 18 to 15.
Leading the Warriors in rebounds was Joanna Hughes with 10. Gabrielle Freese had 5 rebounds for the night. Jackie Lamont led in steals with 8, followed by Emma Matthews and Joanna Hughes with 3 each. Mckenzie Quick had 2 steals for the night.
Joanna "Get that outta here!" Hughes also led in blocks with 5 rejections for the night. There were tears after the contest as this was the first loss under Coach Quick, but they can hold their heads up high as they gave MVCA their best competition of the season according to their coach. Great job girls!
