The Frederick Warriors Boys Varsity team had a second chance to play against the Carlisle Christian Academy team on December 17. Throughout the game, the two teams battled back and forth trading the lead in a close battle. Early in the fourth quarter, the Warriors had the two point lead. Down the stretch, the Warriors continued to play well against the Carlisle team and it appeared they would break into the win column. However, during several drives down the court, the Warriors were called for travelling which shut down any opportunity they had to complete their first win of the season. The final score was 31-25.
After the final game for the team in 2009, each of the starters lead in separate categories. Ben Cook leads all Warriors with 84 points and is second on the team with 52 rebounds. Benjamin Carstens leads all Warriors with 55 rebounds and 28 blocked shots. Benjamin has also scored 53 points. Jacob Hughes leads all Warriors with 8 three-point shots made and is second on the team with 62 total points scored. Josiah Carstens leads the team with 16 assists and has also scored 55 points. Matt Kelly leads all Warriors with 21 steals and he also has scored 50 points.Christopher Leao leads all other players with 26 points, 33 rebounds, and 9 blocked shots. Nick DiGregory, Toby McGrath, John Rubeling, and Sean Duke have all scored. John actually scored points on his Birthday! Jason Kehr has done well off the bench as the point guard. Peter Rubeling and Samuel Pritt have provided good defensive efforts with steals and Connor Johnson, Toby, John, Samuel, and Nick have pulled down rebounds.
The team is looking forward to the Christmas break and the practices that will help them to work even better together as they go into 2010. The team is doing much better working the ball inside for easy shot opportunities and is becoming very strong on defense, giving up only 31 points in their latest game after giving up 43 points to the same team just a week ago.
