As the middle school boys last game of the season, they were ready to play Carlisle Christian Academy. There's a little history here, see last season the boys played Carlisle in their last game, and they won by three points. It was their only win of the season. This season the boys have played Carlisle twice already, and won handily both times. So this was a big game, everyone expected a big win for the last game of the season, especially considering Carlisle was the opposing team. So the game began. Things started as expected, the Warriors took control pretty instantly. The boys got great outside shots and made strong passes inside, resulting in easy layups. Scrappy defense was also shown, getting steals, rebounds, and blocks. The score at halftime was 19-14, with all the players already getting to play in the game. Starting the third quarter didn't seem much different, the starters starting out to put the lead up a little more and then the subs getting playing time, continuing to put the Warriors lead higher and higher. Somewhere in there though the Crusaders started creeping back into the game, putting the score a closer and closer until it was back to back scoring by both teams. With the intensity so high and the clock counting down, the Warriors scrapped to try and put the lead back into their hands. With two seconds left on the clock, the Warriors were up by one, the score being 42-41, and accidently committed a foul, putting one of the Crusaders on the foul line, potentially to win the game. With everyone's breath held, the whole gym watched in silence as the first shot was taken...a miss. Depending on a make or miss for the next shot, the Warriors were looking at potential overtime or a win by one. The second shot was taken, which was missed again. The Warriors threw in the ball, hoping to run the last two seconds off for the win, and everyone cheered as the buzzer sounded with a close but definite win by the Warriors. It was a very exciting last game of the season, a game which everyone played, and yet it was a nailbiter till the last buzzer sounded. Great season boys, way to make us all proud!
