The Frederick Warrior's Boys traveled to Front Royal, VA on Saturday, January 9 to play against the Spirits from St. Johns the Baptist Catholic School. The Warriors outshot the St. Johns team during the first half, but were down by 29-9 at half-time as they had difficulty getting shots to drop.During the third quarter, the Warriors powered back as the inside shots dropped, scoring a total of 21 points in the third quarter alone to close the gap to 43-30. With 4 minutes left in the fourth quarter, the Warriors had further closed the gap to 45-41, after an 11-2 run. At that point, the Warriors had outscored St. Johns 32-16 in the second half. The final score of 55-43 did not indicate the closeness of the game nor the spirit with which the Warriors fought back, outscoring St. Johns 34 to 26 in the second half. Leading all Warriors with 15 points was Ben Carstens, who provided a strong inside presence and shot 7-for-13 from the free-throw line. Ben Carstens also led all Warriors with 10 rebounds and 7 blocked shots. Ben Cook added 10 points to the scoring and both Jacob Hughes and Josiah Carstens added 7 points. The Warriors will play against Adams County Christian Academy at TJ Middle School with tip-off at 8:00PM on Tuesday, January 12. We will try to build on the momentum and good play that began in the second half of Saturday's game.
