The Cumberland Valley Christian School taveled to Frederick to face our Warriors Monday evening at Frederick Christian Academy. The Warriors opened strong; building an 8-point lead in the first quarter, 19-11. The Warriors cooled off in the second quarter, scoring only 13 points, but maintained their lead 32-23 at half
The Blazers applied a zone press in the second half, creating a number of turnovers from the Warriors. The Warriors lead was down to 5 points after 3 quarters. By the fourth quarter, the Warriors had figured out how to break the press and how to make free throws. The scoring output was back up to 19 points in the final quarter. Final score: Warriors 59, Blazers 53. The Warriors were 19 of 27 from the foul line for the gam, including 15 of 22 in the final quarter.
John Koffman led the team with 22 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists. Daniel Passarelli pitched in 17 points (7-for-7 from the line!) and a couple of assists. Chris Leao had a double-double with 11 points, 10 boards, and 3 steals. Alex Leao added 4 points and 6 boards. Josiah Carstens contributed 3 points. Jonathan Pefley scored a bucket, pulled down 7 rebounds with 2 assists and 2 steals. Most importantly, the players demonstrated Godly character throughout. Good work, Warriors.
