In the 1st quarter our girls pulled out with a 3-0 lead. Our girls stuck with Highland View, even though they have height, size, and age on their size (four of their starters were seniors). The Warriors made great passes and nailed some open shots, leaving them down by 8 at halftime, the score being 18-10.
In the 3rd quarter, though, Highland View came out with a hot hand and scored 18 points in the quarter. But they also came out playing very physical; ans the Warriors were in bonus in no time at all! But the Warriors just couldn't make up the gap and they lost 45-19. Even though the confidence portrayed by Highland View's players and fans was quite high, our girls hung tough and kept their lights shining, extending a helping hand to each player who fell to the ground. Several of our players took multiple hard hits, including Ashley Kelly who got thrown to the ground in the last two minutes of the game.Emma Matthews led the team with 8 points, 2 rebounds, and a steal. Emily Passarelli has 5 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 blocks. Gabrielle Freese was right behind her with 4 points, 10 rebounds, 2 steals, and a block. Abby Messinger contributed 2 points, 2 boards, and 3 steals. Ashley had 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals, and a block. Amanda Stewart chipped in 3 assists, 1 board, 1 steal, and a block.
Great job to each player who played down low-even though the girls were big and physical, none of you ever gave up and pressed through playing a great game. Good job ladies!
