Cumberland Valley Christian School (VG)

After the National Anthem beautifully sung by Abby Messinger and her mom and brother, the Lady Warriors were ready to kick off their full week of basketball. Although they were missing Amanda Stewart and Katey Althoff the girls were very excited as this was their first game with their new teamate Bethany Carstens, who will be joining the Ladies for the remainder of the season.
At the start of the game the Lady Blazers scored quickly and by the end of the quarter had the Warriors trailing 11-3. The Ladies came into the second quarter picking up fouls and putting the Blazers on the line multiple times. Though falling off the scoreboard, the Warriors were able to successfully break the full court press that the Blazers put on our girls. At half the score was 26-7.
Going into the second half the girls were looking for a comeback. Which they got a piece of, scoring 10 points to the Blazers 16 points in the second half. The Warriors kept their heads up though, keeping smiles on their faces and playing hard. The Ladies ended the game losing 42-17.
Emma Matthews led the team with 7 points (passing 100 points for the season). Emily Passarelli scored 3 points, pulled down 10 rebounds, had 2 blocks, and an assist. Ashley Kelly also had 3 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, and 1 block. Abby Messinger had 2 points, 16 rebounds, and 3 blocks. Gabrielle Freese pitched in 2 points, 7 rebounds, 3 blocks, 1 assist, and a steal. It was yet another loss, but the Ladies never gave up and played with heart and determination the entire game. Good job ladies!
