The Warrior Varsity guys traveled to Martinsburg, West Virginia, to play the Faith Christian Academy Falcons. It was a physical game but the Lord's protection was evident.
The Warriors were under stiff pressure throughout from a trapping press and tough man defense from the Falcons. The first half pressure caused a number of turnovers and quick shots by the Warriors and allowed the Falcons to build a 18-point lead at half, 30-12.Halftime adjustments motivated the Warriors to fight back throughout the second half. The Warriors figured out how to break the press and even got several successful fast break buckets, passing the ball ahead to the open man. The Warriors steadily chipped away at the Falcons lead, outscoring the Falcons by five each of the third and fourth quarters. The final tally was 53-45 Falcons.
The Warriors had balanced scoring from Chris Leao (11), Toby McGrath (10), Josiah Carstens (9), Daniel Passarelli (7), John Koffman (6), and Alex Leao (2). Rebound totals were Toby (7), Chris (6), John (5), Jonathan Pefley (2), and four other players with 1. John had 9 assists, Josiah 2, and four players has 1. Daniel had 5 steals, Josiah 3, John 2, and two players had 1.
The Warriors displayed great determination in fighting to the end agaisn't a bigger, stronger opponent, showing strong character all the while. Praise the Lord!
