The Lady Warriors made the long drive up to Fulton County Community Christian School last evening for a rematch. The girls had an off night the first time they faced Fulton, and with Coach Matthews leading the girls for the evening they were all in the mood for a win.
Fulton came out and sunk three 3-pointers right off the bat. But the girls didn’t let that rattle them, the score being 9-3 at the end of the 1st quarter. By the second quarter the Chargers found themselves with almost double the points of the Lady Warriors, putting the score 12-7. Late in the second quarter, though, the Warriors came out strong and put the themselves down by only 4 points at halftime, the score being 16-12. The Chargers must have been worried at the half because they came back hot in shooting and playing a physical man-to-man defense. Fulton rarely missed, going on an eight-point run! The Warrior’s shots, on the other hand, just wouldn’t drop. The final score was 40 to 26.
Amanda Stewart led the team with 10 points and 4 rebounds. Gabrielle Freese had 7 points and 11 rebounds. Emma Matthews had 4 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals. Emily Passarelli had 3 points, 12 rebounds, and a steal. Ashley Kelly contributed 6 rebounds, 3 steals, and an assist. Abby Messinger chipped in 4 boards.
It was a big disappointment for the girls as they have a week full of strong teams in front of them, and they left praying for strength and endurance for the week to come.
