Friday night the Warriors’ varsity teams came looking sharp in their white jerseys to host the Adams County Christian Academy Rams at their very first home game of the season; Senior Night for the Warrior boys!
The girls were the first to play and took a fast lead. In the second quarter, Coach called a time-out and told the girls he wanted an "inside game." The guards were told to pass the ball into the post players, and the post players to make a move and shoot. It worked beautifully. Gabrielle Freese had three baskets in a row, Emily Passarelli had two, and Abby Messinger also dropped one in! By halftime the Warriors were up 16-6.Going into the second half, the girls kept playing great, and had a nice lead to fall back on. They kept up the momentum and were up 21-15 at the end of the 3rd quarter.
In the 4th quarter, though, the girls played like they had already won, and the Rams came back, putting the Warriors up by only 5 with only 15 seconds left. The Warriors had the ball though and passed it in, Emma Matthews secured the win by sitting on the ball for several seconds, leaving everyone laughing as the final buzzer went off. The final score was 28-22.
Gabrielle led the team with 9 points, 10 rebounds, 5 blocks, and 1 steal. Emily was right behind her with 6 points, 12 rebounds, 3 blocks, and 2 steals. Emma had 6 points, 6 steals, 2 rebounds, and 1 assist. Abby had 2 points, 9 boards, and 1 assist. Amanda Stewart contributed 3 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks, and an assist. Ashley Kelly had 2 points, 6 steals, 4 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 1 assist.
It was a great win and the girls never let less than a Godly-character be portrayed. Great job ladies!
