Grace Academy (VB)

Thursday night both varsity teams traveled to Hagerstown to play the Grace Academy Knights. On the boy’s side, both John Koffman and Jonathan Pefley were sick, so the Warriors were short on players. The guys kicked things off for the night with one of the more exciting games of the year!
The 1st quarter was rough, with the Knights pounding the ball inside and getting many easy layups. At the end of the quarter the Warriors were down 22 to 14.
In the 2nd quarter, though, the Warriors came out playing much differently. They made sharp passes and got many easy layups after great rebounds. By halftime the Warriors were down 40 to 30.
The guys came out just as strong in the 3rd quarter. With many 3's and tight defense, the Knights had a game that wasn’t a blowout anymore. At the end of the 3rd quarter the score was 52 to 47.
Then in the 4th quarter the Warriors made a move. The scoring went back and forth between the teams, both teams nailing 3's and making great shots inside the paint. The Knights were up 67 to 66 with only six seconds remaining. The Warriors had possession of the ball and passed to Josiah, who was fouled and put on the line. Josiah calmly sunk both shots giving the Warriors a one point lead of 68 to 67. The Knights threw the ball in but had it picked off and held by Michael Pefley until the buzzer sounded giving the boys a very, very close win!
Daniel Passarelli led the team hitting seven 3-pointers, coming up with 23 points, 3 assists, and 2 rebounds. Josiah Carstens came out with a double-double having 14 points, 10 assists, and a steal. Toby McGrath nearly had a double-double with 9 points, 11 rebounds, 2 assists, and a steal. Chris Leao chipped in 13 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, and a block. Joel Kehr had 5 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, and a steal. Alex Leao had 2 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist, and a block. Michael Pefley came up with 2 boards and a steal. Michael Owens had 2 points and a steal.
Through all the intensity of a close game, the Warriors still kept a Godly character and the fans couldn’t have been prouder of them. Great game guys!
