The girls were next to take on the Grace Academy Knights and were still excited from the boys one point win! Once again, the opposing team was bigger and more experienced.
The first half the girls played great ball - not letting the Knights get too much of a lead. At the end of the 1st quarter the Warriors were down 12-5. The girls kept the intensity, but no one’s shot would consistently hit. By the end of the half the Warriors were down 21-8.
After halftime the Warriors came out strong and played some tough defense. At the end of the 3rd quarter the Warriors were trailing 31-14. Ashley Kelly’s shot got hot and the Warriors played tough till the final buzzer. In the end the Warriors finished on bottom, the score being 39-23.
Everyone had a big part in the game. Leading the team in scoring was Ashley with 15 points. Following her was Emma Matthews (3), Amanda Stewart (2), and Emily Passarelli (2). Gabrielle Freese and Emily led the team with 9 rebounds; also crashing the boards was Abby Messinger (6) and Amanda (3). Amanda led the team with 4 assists. Ashley and Amanda led the team in steals, both nabbing 3. Right behind them was Emma and Emily both with 2. Gabrielle led the team with 3 blocks, right behind her was Emily (2) and Ashley (2).
The Warriors may have lost, but they played hard, never gave up, and showed Godly character through the entire game. Great job ladies!
