Front Royal - VG

The drive was long and the temps were below freezing..but the Varsity girls were hot for Saturday's game in Front Royal, Virginia. The girls met St. John the Baptist for the second time this season. The two teams had previously played in Winchester at the Mountainview Christian School Tournament.
The Warriors had won that match. Right from the start, it was obvious that St. John had improved. They were more aggressive and more cohesive as a team. Our Warriors however, didn't let it ruffle them.
They played great defense and controlled the game on both ends of the hardwood. Rachel 'the rubber band' Joannides had 8 rebounds; Maggie Quick pulled in 6 and Sarah Reifsnider snatched 5 for the game. Assists are such an important part of any good win and Liz Catoe dished off 8 with Rachel sharing 3. The parents, wrapped up in their winter coats and gloves, cheered from the upper deck as Liz Catoe and Charity Poole both stole the ball 6 times each.
They continued to cheer as Ana Blickenstaff, Emily Passarelli, Maggie Quick and Sarah Reifsnider all had single blocks. This was the debut game for new Varsity player, Emma Matthews. Emma will be playing up on Varsity as games allow for the remainder of the season. It was a great win as every Warrior got to clock some minutes and make this win, truly a team effort. The final score was Warriors 42, St. John 21.
