Home Game vs. ACCA - VB


On January 12, the Varsity Boys team played the Adams County Christian Academy (ACCA) team at TJ Middle School in Frederick as part of a doubleheader with the Varsity Girls team. The Warriors jumped out quickly in this game with a full court press on defense and several successful fast breaks on offense. The Warriors took a lead of 17-15 at the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Warriors press really impacted the ACCA team, leading to many turnovers and resulting in the Warriors taking a 35-18 lead at the half. Through the third and fourth quarters, the Warriors' lead hovered around 12 points as the Warriors slowed the game down. In the end, the Warriors won their first game this season 53-47.The Warriors played well as a team and played with strong energy and emotion throughout. Ben Cook led all Warriors with a total of 24 points with several fast breaks and strong inside moves. The scoring was rounded out by Jacob Hughes with 10 points, Josiah Carstens with 8 points, Matt Kelly with 4 points, Ben Carstens with 4 points, and Nick DiGregory with 2 points. Ben Cook had 12 rebounds to lead all Warriors while Ben Carstens had 10 rebounds, Matt Kelly had 5 rebounds, Jacob Hughes had 2 rebounds, and Jason Kehr, Nick DiGregory, Christopher Leao, and Connor Johnson had 1 rebound each. The team's strong defense also led to numerous steals including Matt Kelly with 8 steals, Jacob Hughes with 4 steals, Ben Carstens with 3 steals, and Josiah Carstens and Ben Cook with 1 steal each. Ben Carstens also had 5 blocks in the game. The team is looking forward to getting back on the court for their next game on Senior Night on February 23 at New Life Christian School against the Front Royal Flames.
